August 24, 2021

Your Sitka chiropractor knows your spine! Arctic Chiropractic, Sitka knows anatomy. Back in chiropractic school, your chiropractor learned a lot about anatomy of the spine and applies that knowledge every day. Knowledge of the spine’s anatomy is always at the forefront of your chiropractor’s mind as you and each spine pain, neck pain, back pain patient comes through the door! It is so exciting! (Are you not you delighted someone finds it exciting?)

LEARNING ANATOMY IN SCHOOL

Going through school, we’re all guilty of learning only to pass an exam. Going to professional school, such learning is more vital than ever since it will influence everyday work. (How much do you remember from your school days?) An international survey of chiropractors and anatomists described that chiropractors thought that a higher level of anatomy instruction during chiropractic education was advantageous for clinical practice, allowing better understanding, application, and analysis of anatomical material to substantiate a clinical decision in their daily clinical practice. (1) An Australian report of chiropractors compared their knowledge of anatomy to that of chiropractic students. The chiropractic practitioners reported that they knew their anatomy and proved it by taking a test of their knowledge. This was compared to the equivalent in their chiropractic student counterparts. The chiropractors showed that they kept their knowledge of anatomy - and knew they did! – breaking the hypothesis that practicing chiropractors may not keep it after a period of time. Knowledge of anatomy is used daily in chiropractic practice, and chiropractors know their anatomy. (2) Your Sitka chiropractor does! Just ask to find out more.

SPINAL ANATOMY KNOWLEDGE PUT TO USE IN CHIROPRACTIC CLINICAL PRACTICE

Performing spinal manipulation daily utilizes knowledge of the spine’s anatomy every day. The most ordinary reasons people said they sought chiropractic care were low back pain (49.7%), neck pain (22.5%), and extremity issues (10.0%). The typical treatment they experienced were spinal manipulation (79.3%), soft tissue therapy (35.1%), and formal patient education (31.3%). (3) Spinal conditions get plenty of attention from chiropractic patients and their chiropractors, of course! But positive side effects of chiropractic care materialize in the medical literature as well like potential cardiovascular benefit. In a placebo-controlled, assessor-blinded, randomized trial, researchers reported on the immediate effects of upper thoracic spine manual therapy on cardiovascular autonomic control of musculoskeletal pain patients (ie, back pain, spine pain, neck pain, etc.). The researchers stated that musculoskeletal pain intensified the risk of cardiovascular events. (4) Come feel these benefits of chiropractic treatment based on spinal anatomy knowledge.
